How we got our start Millie Merrill founded Turtle Fur in 1982, leaving the company's initial mark on winter sports with the invention of the first fleece neck warmer. Affectionately dubbed The Turtle's Neck, it was a design shift in winter accessories that proves successful to this day.

Product Description Since 1982, Turtle Fur has been a leading headwear and accessories brand in the outdoor, snow sports, and lifestyle markets. Today, Turtle Fur has expanded to sell a robust and ever-encompassing selection of hats, necks, gear, and apparel in many different categories of outdoor wear. Turtle Fur remains a family-owned company based in Morrisville, Vermont. The dedicated Turtles who design, test, market, receive, and ship our beloved hats, necks, and other accessories are committed to assuring the best for our customers.

Brain Shroud Beanie/Liner

The Brain Shroud is a lightweight beanie used for insulating under helmets and wicking sweat while you stay on the move. A single-layer fabric sits on the crown of your head, while a double-layer band is placed at the ears; allowing for you to release heat without sacrificing warmth.

Comfort Shell Performance Fabric

Comfort Shell is our proprietary performance fabric. It is the perfect blend of moisture management and lightweight element protection. Comfort Shell is brushed on the inside which allows hollow core fibers to trap air, providing both insulation for warmth and moisture control for drying and cooling.

Project Warmth

Turtle Fur launched the Project Warmth initiative in 2008 to help those in need stay warm. We started small around our home in Vermont before expanding to a national level. In 2020, we donated over 27,000 products while our total since inception has amounted to over 127,000 pieces.
